Telluride Air Force Inc. was incorporated in 1973 to promote and regulate safe foot-launched free-flight in Telluride, Colorado.
We manage launch areas on the Telluride Ski Resort under contract with its owner, Telluride Ski and Golf (TSG), and landing zones in the Town of Telluride pursuant to Chapter 10, Article 9 of the Telluride Municipal Code. Under these arrangements, it is prohibited to launch from anywhere on the Telluride Ski Resort or to land anywhere on land owned by the Town of Telluride without authorization from the Telluride Air Force. We carry insurance required by TSG and the Town of Telluride for all member pilots (visiting and local) and operate two trucks which we insure and are authorized by TSG for use by our designated drivers to access the higher launches we use on the Telluride Ski Resort.
For information on how to fly our sites and connect with us, please start by reading requirements to fly.
We do not have any authority over launches and landings on federal land (e.g. USFS, BLM) which are accessed via walking/hiking.
We are a Colorado non-profit corporation and a tax exempt organization under section 501(c)3 of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.
