For over 50 years, the Telluride Air Force has been a distinct feature of the Telluride community, delighting locals and tourists alike as they hang glide and paraglide in the skies above town. Until recently, the club was a member-sustained nonprofit, but recent insurance hikes have made the financial future of the club tenuous without outside support.
The goal of the First Annual Free Flight Film Festival and Fundraiser event is fourfold:
- Raise money for the non-profit to ensure its continued viability;
- Raise awareness of the sport, especially amongst locals, to encourage more people to learn to fly and eventually join the club;
- Raise awareness of the club amongst local decision-makers to help continue the access we’ve enjoyed for over 50 years to the Town Park landing zone, the Pearl Property and Valley Floor landing zones, and the Telluride Ski Resort launches;
- Thank those that have helped continue to make free flight possible in the Telluride area.
We are building on the foundation of the 2018 United States Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association (USHPA) Film Festival and hope to lay the groundwork for an annual tradition that supports the club well into the future.
Location: The Sheridan Opera House (SOH) and the SHOW Bar.
Date/Time: Friday, May 31. This is just after the Gondola re-opens and our flying season begins.
6-7PM: Silent Auction and Equipment Display at the SHOW Bar
7-9PM: Raffle, Panel Discussions, and films at the SOH.
Our Ask: We need items for the silent auction and for the raffle from sponsors in order to raise funds for the club. Please email info@tellurideairforce.org with any donations/ideas. Alternatively, any cash donations to the club would also be much appreciated:
